Nafziger, Elmer W., 91, of Lowville, Lewis Co., NY died December 22, 2016 at the same place. He was born October 3, 1925 at Martinsburg, Lewis Co., NY to Joseph M. and Rose (Widrick) Nafziger. On September 12, 1950 at Croghan, Lewis Co., NY he was married to Gladys Mae Yousey, who is deceased.
Surviving are children, Lillian and Robert Steria of Croghan; NY; Harlan and Ann Nafziger of St. Augustine, FL; Sidney and Beth Nafziger of Lowville, NY; Wesley and Kendra Nafziger of Elkhart, IN; Isabel and David Norris of Lowville, NY; and Cora and Michael Zehr of Lowville, NY; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Arlene and Anthony Zehr of Croghan, NY; Mary and Nelson Roes of Croghan, NY; and Doris Roggie of Croghan, NY.
Elmer and Gladys were the owners of Evergreen View Farm in Martinsburg.
A granddaugter, Diane Nafziger preceded him in death.
Memorial services were held January 2, 2017 at Lowville Mennonite Church, Lowville, NY with burial in Croghan Mennonite Cemetery, Croghan, NY.

GOSHEN - Twila J. Nafziger, 87, passed away early Monday morning at Greencroft Healthcare after a decade-long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
She was born June 15, 1928, near Orrville, Ohio, to Harry and Esther (Hostetler) Hostetler.
On June 22, 1952, she married Myrl Nafziger in Smithville, Ohio.
He survives along with five children, Mark (Cleo) Nafziger of Logan, Utah, Ned (Jane Yousey) Nafziger of Canton, Ohio, Anne (Joseph Bertino) Nafziger of Schenectady, N.Y., Dan (Evie) Nafziger of Goshen, and Jon (Carol Hurst) Nafziger of Crozet, Va.; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Marian Hostetler, Goshen, Doris (Jim) Miller, Kidron, Ohio, and Beth (Lee Roy) Berry, Goshen.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A member of Berkey Avenue Mennonite Fellowship, Mrs. Nafziger graduated from Goshen College in 1950 with a degree in elementary education. After her children were older, she ran a preschool in Wadsworth, Ohio.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 11, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 12, at 11 a.m. at Berkey Avenue Mennonite Fellowship.
A private burial will be in Elkhart Prairie Cemetery, Goshen.

After retiring from farming, Clarence worked at Leaman Place Store for over 20 years. He later served the Amish community as a driver, continuing until the age of 92. Clarence volunteered for Paradise Area Meals on Wheels and various thrift stores.
Clarence was a devout follower of Jesus. He was a longtime member of the former Mount Pleasant Mennonite Church, where he served as Deacon for 23 years. He was most recently a member of Kinzer Mennonite Church. At both churches, he served in many capacities such as song leader, Sunday school teacher, and treasurer. Clarence's love for people was evident in his time spent visiting and taking those in need into his home. He enjoyed singing in the Gap Area Men's Chorus and most recently in the QPRC Choir. Some of his hobbies include shuffleboard, dominos, puzzles, and games with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Born in Paradise Township, he was the son of Chester and Ruth (Hershey) Neff. Clarence is survived by his children; Mel, married to Dot (Groff) of Ronks, Ann, married to Bob Eshleman of Paradise, Mabel Merk of Strasburg, Don, married to Doris (Hershey) of Paradise, Clair, married to Nancy (Illingworth) of Landisville, and Joyce, married to Chris Slabaugh of Quarryville, and adopted daughter Kathy, married to Michael Frick of Hummelstown; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Elizabeth, married to John Brubaker of QPRC, and a brother, Earl, married to Marian (Leaman) of Quarryville. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter in 1945, a grandson Dustin Neff, and a brother, Lester.
The family would like to thank the staff at QPRC for their kindness, loving care, and excellent service.
There will be a viewing on Monday, November 14, from 6 PM to 8 PM at Quarryville Presbyterian Retire-ment Community, 625 Robert Fulton Highway, Quarryville, PA and again Tuesday, November 15 from 10 AM until 11 AM at Grace Point Church of Paradise, 8 South Singer Avenue, Paradise, PA. The funeral will begin at 11 AM in the church. Interment will follow at Paradise Mennonite Cemetery.

Born Dec. 2, 1947, he was the son of the late Homer and Tressie Mitchell Nesselrodt. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Mae N. Dove.
He was a member of Grace Mennonite Fellowship and was retired from Harman Construction. He loved to be outdoors, especially on the tennis court.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sharon M. Nesselrodt; daughter, Tricia Nesselrodt; son, Gregory Nesselrodt; three sisters, Kathryn Beck, Helen Minnick and Carolyn Rothwell; four brothers Bill, David, Jarrett and Lowell Nesselrodt; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Sunday, Aug. 28, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home, Harrisonburg.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29, 2016, at the Grace Mennonite Fellowship, 209 Lacey Spring Road, Harrisonburg, VA 22802.

Stella D. Nester, 86, of Allentown, passed away Sept. 20, 2016 at the Phoebe Home, Allentown.
She was the widow of Norman H. Nester, who passed away in 2014.
At the time of his death they were married 65 years.
Born in Salisbury Twp., she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Lydia (Siegfried) Smith. She was the last survivor of 13 children. Stella was an active member of Upper Milford Mennonite Church.
Survivors:

GOSHEN - LuEtta K. Neumann, 89, of Goshen, died Monday, July 4, at Greencroft Gables.
She was born Feb. 10, 1927, in Hopedale, Ill., to Eldon and Sadie (Sutter) Nafziger.
On Sept. 4, 1948, she married Roger Neumann in Hopedale.
He survives along with a son, Ted (Dana) Neumann of South Bend; two daughters, Paula (Jim) Ream of Indianapolis and Joy (Douglas) Landis of Mason, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Pauline Springer and a brother, Eldon Dean Nafziger.
A member of Hopedale Mennonite Church, LuEtta was an active Sunday school and Bible school teacher, serving as superintendent for many years. She also was a Girl Scout leader for more than 20 years; served on the Delavan library board; was a member of the Tazewell County and Illinois State Medical Auxiliary and Delavan Women’s Club.
The arts were an important part of her life. She painted with oils and most recently enjoyed singing with the First Presbyterian Church choir while wintering in Naples, Fla., and with the Evergreen Singers at Greencroft when in Goshen. She also volunteered at medical facilities in Zimbabwe and Bangladesh.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen and from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 7, at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home, 121 W. Third St., Delavan, IL 61734.

WAKARUSA - Aubree Faith Newswanger, 13 months, of Wakarusa, died at 4:20 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, at Memorial Hospital of South Bend.
She was born April 24, 2015, in South Bend, to Leon and Emma (Showalter) Newswanger.
Surviving are her parents, Leon and Emma of Wakarusa; paternal grandmother, Bertha Newswanger of Wakarusa; maternal grandparents, Lloyd and Rachel Showalter of Greenwood, Wis.; and maternal great-grandmother, Vera Showalter of Harrisonburg, Va.
Preceding her in death was her twin sister, Alexis Hope Newswanger and her paternal grandfather, Lester Newswanger.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 24, and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 25. Joel H. Newswanger, 12, passed away Tuesday evening, July 19, 2016.

Joel was born August 8, 2003 in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania to Glenn and Marian Horning Newswanger. He came to Deming with his family in January of this year and they were establishing their family farm in the Columbus area. Joel enjoyed every day and was very excited about learning to farm in the Southwest. He attended the Sunshine Mennonite Church.
Joel is survived by his parents, Glenn and Marian Newswanger of Columbus; his brothers, Carl H. Newswanger, Michael H. Newswanger, and Merle Newswanger; sisters, Darla Wise (David), Rosa Wenger (Isaac Lamar), Dorcas Weaver (Dale), Carol Newswanger, and Regina Newswanger; his grandparents, Michael and Minnie Horning, and Phares and Katie Newswanger.

Boy dies in rollover

Columbus
COLUMBUS, NM - New Mexico State Police are investigating a fatal single vehicle crash in the village of Columbus, New Mexico, located 30 miles south of Deming.
NMSP reports indicate that around 8:30 p.m., officers investigated a single-vehicle fatal crash which occurred on San Diego Road in Columbus.
Surviving are four sons, Robert Nice, wife Ruthann; Donald Nice, wife Delores; Dennis Nice, wife Robin; and John Nice; two daughters, Betty Kulp, husband Scott; and Susan Blum, husband Timothy; 18 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, a sister, Shirley Hackman; and a brother, Kenneth Bergey, wife Betty.
A grandson, Daryl Kulp, and a granddaughter, Sherry Kulp, preceded her in death.
Memorial services were held February 27, 2016 at Franconia Mennonite Church, Telford, Montgomery Co., PA with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

GOSHEN - Melvin J. Nisley, 80, of Goshen, died at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 12, 1936, in Goshen, to Jacob and Katie (Chupp) Nisley.
He married Ella E. Bontrager. She died Sept. 8, 2012.
Surviving are two daughters, Betty (Jonnie) Yoder of Bonduel, Wis. and Kathryn (David) Miller of Goshen; two sons, Willard (Judy) Nisley of Bagley, Minn. and Ernest Lee Nisley of Albion; 18 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; three brothers, Ora, Leo and William Nisley; and a sister, Clara Yoder.
He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, and all day Sunday, Nov. 13, at the family’s residence, 14782 C.R. 34 Goshen.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 14, also at the family’s residence.
Burial will be in Nisley Cemetery, Goshen.

A 1942 graduate of East Hempfield High School, Corinne first became a busy farmer's wife, housewife and mother. Later she entered retailing as a sales clerk and worked her way up into managerial positions at Gimbels and Watt and Shand.
She found time to be president of the local and state Farm Women, hosted several exchange students from Germany, Laos, and Finland, was soloist, organist, and choir director in the Church of the Brethren. In retirement she enjoyed golf, Red Hat Society, and volunteering at the Brethren Village even though for over 8 years she was sole caretaker for her beloved husband who was wheelchair-bound late in life.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Connie, wife of Rick Seeley of Florida and Nancy, wife of Richard Marsden of New York; 3 sons, W. Scott III, husband of Vickie Kensinger Nissley of Maryland, Eric Nissley, husband of Henry Gibson of Massachusetts, and David, husband of Gail Haeffner Nissley of Connecticut; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Also surviving are 2 sisters, Matora Hostetter and Jean Zurin, both of Brethren Village.
Corinne had musical talents which were held in high esteem by many. She was a vibrant and inspiring woman with many qualities that made the world a better place. She will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at the Hempfield Church of the Brethren, 1186 Stevens St., Manheim on June 18 at 2 PM. The family will visit friends following the service with private internment held afterwards. A second memorial service will be held at the Brethren Village Chapel on June 18 at 7 PM.

Verna was an active member of Good's Mennonite Church in Bainbridge where she was the president of the sewing circle for more than 40 years. She made scores of quilts over the years, many which were sold at Kraybill Mennonite School Benefit Auction over a period of 30 years. Verna enjoyed her grandchildren and had a great impact on their lives, as well as the lives of others. She cherished friendships and relationships and extended encouragement through cards and notes.
She is survived by four children, Carolyn L., wife of Leon S. Stoltzfus, of New Holland, John L., husband of Holly A. Forney Nissley, of Elizabethtown, Judy E., wife of Joe E. Rohrer, of Lancaster, and Steven P., husband of Grace H. Dodzweit Nissley, of Newmanstown; a daughter-in-law, Susan A. Hoover Nissley, wife of the late James Luke Nissley, of Elizabethtown; 25 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and nine siblings, Anna J. Kamoda of Monongahela, J. Frank Zeager, of Lititz, G. Herbert, husband of Orpha I. Zeager, of Elizabethtown, Ethel M. She was a member of Ephrata Church of the Brethren, Family Circle of Lincoln, in earlier years the Early Bird Walking Club, Brownstown Young at Hearts, West Earl Lions Club, and Friendly Circle. She was a volunteer at the Ephrata Community Hospital Gift Shop, and she collected and donated Teddy Bears to nursing home residents and children. She enjoyed traveling with her companion Abe Shrom, dining out with family and friends, and always enjoyed a nice car. She was affectionately known as the Banana Lady at Fairmount Homes.
Arlene worked as a electronics inspector for RCA Corp, Lancaster, currently known as Burle Industries.
Arlene is survived by a son, Jeffrey L., husband of Christina (Miles) Sullivan of Morgantown; 2 grandchildren, Sheila (Sullivan), wife of Eric Higginson of Oconomowoc, WI, Keith Sullivan of Denver, CO; 2 step-grandchildren, Amanda Yiengst, and David Shelly; 3 great-grandchildren, Alahna, Logan, and Keira Higginson; 6 step-great-grandchildren, Mariah, Bryce, Reagan, Seth, Dawson, and Campbell; 2 brothers, Glenn E. Zimmerman, companion of Rose Musser of Ephrata, and Harlan B. "Tuffy" Zimmerman of Ephrata; a sister, Dorothy, wife of Edwin Erb of Ephrata; and companion, Abram Shrom, Sr. of Brownstown.

On Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016, our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandma and sister left this world to be in Paradise with her Lord and Savior. Her earthly journey of 91 years is complete and she has joined loved ones in Heaven rejoicing with Jesus.
Life as a farm wife, child caregiver and excellent cook gave her family many good memories as they were taught the principles of hard work, faith, family, investing in people's lives and perseverance. Eva worked at the former Ezra Martin Meats in Bridgeport, PA for a number of years and transported her Amish friends in her retirement. Eva was a member of Mellinger Mennonite Church, Lancaster. She lived at Pleasant View Retirement Community for the last five years. Born in Rapho Twp., she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Eva Long Bingeman. Eva was married for 29 years to Daniel K. Clymer who died in 1974. After his death, she was married to Richard Nolt who died in 2014.
She is survived by: her children: Dale married to Phyllis Clymer, York, Jean married to Henry Eberly, Gordonville, Lois Ann married to Robert Good, Denver; 13 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; step-children, Gerald married to Joanne Nolt, Lititz, J. She was born in Earl Twp. on August 28, 1930 to the late Norman and Mary (Reiff) Hoover and was the wife of the late Aaron H. Nolt who passed away in 2005.
A homemaker, she was a member of Groffdale Mennonite Church (Groffdale Conference).
Surviving are three sons: Raymond husband of Mary (Martin) Nolt, New Holland; Norman husband of Ruth (Rissler) Nolt, Leola; and Alvin husband of Alta (Zimmerman) Nolt, Williamsburg; 25 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; four sisters: Frances Martin, East Earl; Esther (Marvin) Zimmerman, Denver; Mary (David) Zimmerman, East Earl; Alta (Paul) Zimmerman, Shippensburg; three brothers: Norman (Esther) Hoover, Leola; Harvey (Annie) Hoover, Ephrata; Paul (Vera) Hoover, Leola; a brother-in-law Ben Zimmerman, OH and a sister-in-law Esther Hoover, Ephrata.

HARRISONBURG, Va. - Wayne Gerald North died Friday, July 8, at the age of 86.
He was the son of the late Homer F. and Bertha Bechtel North and was born, in Nappanee, Oct. 29, 1929.
Following his graduation from the Nappanee schools, he graduated from Hesston Jr. College, Goshen College, and Goshen Biblical Seminary.
Wayne served as pastor to churches in Ontario Canada, Ohio, and Virginia as superintendent of Central Christian High School in Kidron, Ohio and as administrator for the Mennonite General Board in Lombard, Ill. He was also a writer for Mennonite periodicals. Wayne was gentle and kind and often knew just the right word for a situation. He believed everyone deserved to be loved and treated with respect.
Wayne demonstrated his love for his wife and family.
In 1955, he married Doris Amstutz and to them were born six children, Rod (Alice Franks) of Greensboro, N.C., Brenda (Stan Martin) of Cary, N.C., Emily (Ben Sandel) of Harrisonburg, David of Denver, Colo., Janet (Fred Schlabach) East Bernard, Vt. and Jennifer (Kendal Bauman) of Harrisonburg. He always enjoyed his 12 grandchildren, Elizabeth and Emily, Erin and Anali, Henry, Isaac and Ruby, Coen and Lewis, Micah, Zach and Malia.
Wayne was preceded in death by his sister, Elta Eicher.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday July 12, at Harrisonburg Mennonite Church. The family will receive friends on from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 11, at Harrisonburg Mennonite Church.

GOSHEN - Nathan E. Nussbaum, 87, died Saturday afternoon, June 11, at Greencroft Healthcare.
He was born Sept. 23, 1928, in Kidron, Ohio, to Amos and Lydia (Falb) Nussbaum.
On Aug. 30, 1953, he married Ruby Glick at Emma Mennonite Church.
She survives, along with six children, Evan Nussbaum of South Bend, Ethan (Carol) Nussbaum of Lexington, S.C., Rebecca (Don) Rohrer of Elkhart, Jonathan (Becky) Nussbaum of Union, Mich., David Nussbaum of Osceola and Rachel (Rick) Eby of Goshen; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Elma Bixler, Lila Lehman, Laura Hofstetler and Rosa Kratzer; and four brothers, Gilbert, Clarence, Irvin and Delvin Nussbaum.
Mr. Nussbaum was a member of North Goshen Mennonite Church. He worked as a pastor and electrician for nine years, and also as an appliance technician for Sears for 21 years before retiring.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 14, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.
An 11 a.m. memorial service will be conducted Wednesday, June 15, at North Goshen Mennonite Church, 510 N. 8th St., Goshen. Pastor Mark Schloneger will officiate. Private burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen.

MIDDLEBURY - Myron Duane Oesch, 86, of Middlebury, died Tuesday, June 28.
He was born Aug. 30, 1929, to Chauncey and Alice (Miller) Oesch.
He married Murlene Garber; she survives. Surviving also are five children, Marlys (Randy) Stutzman, Marcia (Ed) Imel, Michael (Judy) Oesch, Nancy (Doug) Thwaits, and Debi (Joe) Riegsecker; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, three great-grandchildren, a brother and a sister.

Jesse Kore Peachey, of Raymond, Alberta, passed away on March 29, 2016, at the hospital in Raymond at the age of 79, four weeks after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He was the beloved husband of Faye Elizabeth Peachey.
Jesse was born to Rufus and Annie (Zook) Peachey on November 28, 1936, in Belleville, Pennsylvania. He grew up there as an Amish boy in the Kishacoquillas Valley. As a young man he decided to devote his life to following Jesus. In December of 1957, he married Faye, and soon after their marriage they moved to a pioneer community in the mountains of British Columbia. He was ordained as a minister in McBride, BC, in 1967. In 1972, Jesse and Faye and their family moved to Bay Tree, AB, a farming community in the Peace River country. After his retirement in 2008, Jesse and Faye moved to Raymond, AB.
Jesse loved the northern bush and worked for many years as a logger and sawyer. He also loved the land and enjoyed farming in the Peace River country. He and Faye dedicated four years of their lives as well to caring for Faye’s parents in their old age.
Jesse’s life was characterized by generosity, humility, and gratefulness. He loved God and people and took joy in the small things of life. His kindness and acceptance of people will be remembered by all those who came into contact with him.
Jesse is survived by his wife Faye (Baer) Peachey and nine children: Carol Peachey of Harrisonburg, VA; David (and Barbara) Peachey of Bay Tree, AB; Jonathan (and Donna) Peachey of Kamloops, BC; Julia (and Daniel) Brubaker of Raymond and Bay Tree, AB; Alta (and Dennis) Breen of Saskatoon, SK; Twila (and Brian) Smucker of Bonners Ferry, ID; Glen Peachey of Fort St. John, BC; Lucinda (and Daniel) Martin of Bay Tree, AB; Linda (and Steven) Overholt of Bay Tree, AB; 42 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 4, 2016, at the EVANGELICAL FREE CHURCH, 4717 24 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB. A private family Graveside Service will be held at Briar Ridge Cemetery, British Columbia.
Surviving are a daughter Beth and husband Marcus Miller of Wellman, IA; a son Bob and wife Brenda Peachey of Milton-Freewater, OR; five grandchildren; a sister Esther Yoder, Aroda, VA; and brothers Paul and wife Evelyn Brenneman; and Alvin Jr. and wife Marie Brenneman all of Orrville, Ohio.
Three brothers-in-law, Chester Yoder, Urie Peachey, and Sanford Peachey preceded her in death.
Memorial services were held June 11, 2016 at Yoder-Powell Funeral Home, Kalona, Washington Co., IA with burial in Crown Hill Mennonite Cemetary, Rittman, OH.

March 13, 1919 - May 30, 2016
Violet Perry, 97, passed away May 30, 2016 at Schowalter Villa, Hesston. She was born March 13, 1919 in Leo, Indiana, the daughter of John and Sarah Neuhouser Leichty. A resident of Hesston since 2005, she had lived most of her life in Leo, Indiana. She was a homemaker and had attended Kingdom Life Church, Hesston.
She married Lester Perry on December 20, 1941 in Leo, Indiana. He died June 15, 1992.
Survivors include a daughter, Yvonne (Tony) Overton, Buhler; a brother, Paul Leichty, Leo, Indiana; 3 grandchildren, Michael Overton, Andrew Overton, and Sarah (David) Jones; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and 14 brothers and sisters.
Cremation is planned. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the Kingdom Life Church, with Pastor Scott Miller presiding. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice or Kingdom Life Church General Missions Fund, both in care of Miller-Ott Funeral Home, Hesston.
She is survived by 6 children: Susanna L. wife of Samuel S. Stoltzfus of Ronks, Samuel K. husband of Sally L. Beiler Petersheim, Alvin husband of Esther Fisher Petersheim, both of Gap, Edna R. wife of Gideon K. Stoltzfus of Gordonville, John F., husband of Lena Smucker Petersheim of Coatesville, Christian L. husband of Ruthy King Petersheim of Gap, 48 grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty L. Stoltzfus wife of Jake Stoltzfus of Deansboro, NY and 13 siblings: Jonas, John, Samuel, Isaac, Emanuel, Amos, Jonathan, Christ, Melvin, Leroy Lapp, Lydia King, Elizabeth Stoltzfus, and Susie Glick.
Funeral service will take place from the Pequea Amish Mennonite Church, 115 Blank Road, Narvon, PA, on Tuesday, March 8th at 10 a.m. There will be a viewing at the church on Monday, March 7th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in the Buena Vista Amish Cemetery. He was the husband of Elva C. (Martin) Petre, his wife of 69 years. He was born May 27, 1925, in Washington County, MD, the son of the late Paul and Elizabeth (Horst) Petre Eckstine.
He was a member of Stouffer Mennonite Church, Smithsburg, MD.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his seven children: Harold (Beulah), New Waterford, OH; Delores Martin (Landis), Waynesboro, PA; Nathan (Evelyn), Canton, PA; James (Leona), Flintstone, MD; Esther Mae Martin (Gary), Hagerstown, MD; Rebecca Martin (Keith), Waynesboro, PA; and Miriam Martin (Jay), Hagerstown, MD; 55 grandchildren; 144 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Wesley A. Petre of Hagerstown, MD.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Calvert R. of Sparta, TN; Lawrence N. of Dayton, VA; and one infant brother, as well as one grandson and four great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Stouffer Mennonite Meetinghouse, 23303 Welty Church Rd., Smithsburg, MD, 21783, on Wednesday from 1-3 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be Thursday, at 10:00 a.m., with viewing one hour before, at Reiff Mennonite Meetinghouse, 17433 Reiff Church Rd., Hagerstown, MD, 21740. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
Arrangements were made by J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, MD.
